Umut Öztürk
I run a logistics company in Istanbul and write about what actually happens between a click and a doorstep — for people who move goods for a living.
I started this site because most supply chain coverage is written for boardrooms, not for the people booking containers, chasing customs clearance and arguing with last-mile carriers. I wanted a place that reads like a trade desk, not a press release.
Day to day I run operations for a freight and fulfilment business based in Istanbul, working across Türkiye, the EU and cross-border e-commerce lanes. That vantage point — one foot in the warehouse, one in the spreadsheet — shapes everything published here.
Posts are a mix of short notes on industry news, longer original analysis and coverage of the events I attend. Everything is published in both English and Turkish.
How this site works
- Independent, attached to a business
- This site is run by a working logistics business in Istanbul. It takes no advertising, sponsored content or affiliate fees. Where an article touches a carrier or platform I have a commercial relationship with, the article says so.
- Primary sources first
- Federal Register, USTR, EU Council and Commission texts, and carrier rate notices before trade press. Every article lists its sources with dates, and figures are checked against the original document rather than a summary of it.
- Corrections in place
- Mistakes are fixed in the article with an update note at the top saying what changed and when. If a correction changes a conclusion, newsletter subscribers get a follow-up. Report one at hello@umtoz.com.
- Analysis, not advice
- Nothing here is customs, tax or legal advice. Rates and rules move; the key dates page tracks what is changing and when.
